OK you have written your manuscript. You have spent Blood Sweat and Tears over it now what?
So you have decided to try the self-publish route
There are 2 alternatives
“Vanity Presses” These companies may offer editing as one of their services, for a fee, they will do as much or as little as you want to pay them for. They will print however many copies of the book as you want to pay for. Once again how much of their services is dependent on how much you are willing to pay for. You also maintain the inventory of your books and are usually responsible for the marketing and distribution of your books.
Print on Demand, this can be a physical or electronic. In the electronic field there are 2 major “players” Amazon, the Kindle format, or Barnes and Noble, the Nook format. With just a “heads up” Barnes and Noble are no longer distributing Nook format books in the UK (something you may wish to consider when trying to market your book overseas).
The largest “player” in Print on demand is Amazon. What does Print on demand mean?
You can order physical copies of your book for you to sell/distribute as you want but other readers can order your book and have it delivered from Amazon (you only order however many books you actually want and need – not having a garage full of boxes of books).
